Smart Grid + Smart Home – Using HASS to optimize benefits in affordable housing
Presented at the Home Assistant 2020 Conference: https://www.home-assistant.io/conference
Absurd housing costs, unreliable but expensive power, everything’s on fire: welcome to Silicon Valley in 2020. With that in mind, I’ll go through how I’m using Home Assistant to prototype a home automation system for the developers of an affordable housing project. With this project (as is often the case), the customers are not the end users. I’ll discuss the prototype and production systems, the integrations we’re using, and how Home Assistant has made this possible. With my background in the energy industry, I’ll show HASS users how they can learn from my project to address their own electricity costs.
